The Remnant Project

A Remnant is something that remains, something that is left behind - bits and scraps of material. Fossils, imprints and found objects such as pottery shards can tell much about the past, just as the leavings of today will be on this planet for generations to come, informing the future about our time.

Clay Remnants can be balls or tubes, medallions or cubes. They are given texture by impressing them with things from the world like seashells, screws or burlap. After they are glazed and fired, I wire them together into larger structures.

I have invited community members of all ages to join me in creating Remnants at various activations in different art spaces. By weaving many makers together, The Remnant Project reflects on what binds us and what makes us individuals.
